- 3 cups flour
- 3/4 cup oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons red wine
- 3/4 cup baking cocoa
- 3 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups water
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
Optional:
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon chipotle (powdered)
Sift dry ingredients. Add wet and mix with a spoon until all dry ingredients are moistened (do not over mix). Pour in an ungreased cake pan (9×12). Bake at 350º F until cake pulls away from sides of pan, 35 – 40 minutes, or use the toothpick test.
The keys to wine and chocolate are: Keep it rich and bittersweet (like a good red wine), and skip the milk chocolate—it is for coffee and kids. This cake is made for our Paradisos Red.
